The busy Holiday Season is fast approaching!

Thank you to everyone who came out on this blustery day to take part in our annual Santa Skate & Christmas party! We had a great turnout, despite the weather, and a great time was had by all!

Here’s what’s happening at Port Credit SC in December.

Competitions:

Good luck to those competing at the upcoming event:

  • Skaneateles Invitational—Skaneateles, New York. December 6-8th

Parents, please remember to send us your event photos so that we can share them with our Club members. These can be emailed to photos@portcreditfsc.ca.

Important Dates:

  • Friday December 6th – NO SKATING sessions taking place on this day.
  • Sunday December 8th – All sessions are taking place at Huron Park Recreation Centre for this day only. Off-Ice session will take place in the Iroquois Room.
  • December 17th to 22nd- PreCanSkate and CanSkate Progress Reports will be handed out during this week. If you anticipate not attending, we can arrange for your report card to be picked up at an earlier date. Please speak to our CanSkate Chair, Ivana, to make arrangements.
  • Sunday December 22nd – This is the last day of regular skating before the Christmas break. The Winter CanSkate Programs will begin on Thursday January 2nd. StarSkate and Full Year Programs will also resume on Thursday January 2nd.

StarSkate Christmas Break Skating Sessions- Friday December 27th and Monday December 30th from 11 am to 1 pm. Payment details to follow. These sessions are for our higher level skaters only; these are not intended for our CanSkate level participants.

Winter CanSkate programs are filling up quickly with some already at capacity. If you haven’t already registered click here to do so now!

Fall will soon be turning into winter and Daylight Savings Time is upon us. Don’t forget to turn your clocks back one hour tonight!

Thank you to those who took part in our Parent Orientation sessions in October. Your feedback is valuable and greatly appreciated. You can reach out to us at any time with questions or suggestions on how we can continue to improve our programs.

Halloween at Port Credit! HUGE thanks go out to our amazing CanSkate Chair, Ivana, for making Halloween week extra special for all of our PreCanSkate and CanSkate participants.   It was great to see the kids dressed up in their costumes and enjoying the fun activities on the ice.

Competitions:

Congratulations to our skaters who took part in the Skate Ontario Super Series Skokie Skate in Huntsville October 25-27th. What a fantastic representation of our Club! Thank you to our great coaches for their hard work in preparing these skaters to compete. Results and photos are posted on our Competitions page and can be viewed here.

Good luck to those competing at the upcoming Skate Ontario events:

  • Super Series-Blades in Baltimore, November 15-17th
  • Super Series-KIS in Keswick, November 22-24th
  • Star 1-4 Series-Bowmanville, November 29th-December 1st

Parents, please send us your event photos so that we can share them with our Club members. These can be emailed to photos@portcreditfsc.ca.

Dates to remember:

  • Tuesday, November 19th: StarSkate test day. There will be NO CanSkate sessions taking place on this day. The evening Open session and Competitive sessions will take place as scheduled, further details to follow.
  • Saturday, November 30th: Winter CanSkate and StarSkate Instalment Payments. If you chose to pay by instalments at registration, your payment will be processed November 30th, 2019. You can log into your Port Credit SC account at any time to view your account information and to see if you have upcoming payments on your account. If your credit card information has changed, please contact admin@portcreditfsc.ca for instructions on updating your information prior to the instalment date. For security reasons, do not send us your credit card information. There is a $25 processing fee for declined payments.

We are planning our annual Santa Skate on Sunday December 1st. Mark your calendars for this annual fun Club event.

Is your skater already registered in a Fall CanSkate Program?  Register now for your Winter session to guarantee your spot as these fill up quickly.

Happy Fall!

We would like to welcome back our returning families and extend a special welcome to our new members!

Important Dates

  • Thursday October 10th – Battle of the Blades, Port Credit SC night out!
  • Monday October 14th – Thanksgiving, exception day (no skating).
  • Tuesday October 15th – Fall CanSkate final installment payment due**
  • Monday October 21st – StarSkate Test Day. Exception day (no skating) for afternoon Open sessions and Junior Development.
  • October 25-27th – Skokie Skate. Good luck to our skaters competing at this event!
  • Wednesday October 31st – Halloween! Exception day (no skating) for all sessions.

**Only if you chose to pay by installments at the time of registration: log into your PCSC account at any time to view upcoming payments. If your credit card information has changed, please email admin@portcreditfsc.ca for instructions.

Parent Information Sessions: be sure to join us to learn more about your programs. We will be presenting valuable information and answering your questions.

  • Junior Development – October 9th from 6:30-7:30 pm Outside the Credit Room
  • Development Thursday – October 10th from 5:00-5:30 pm at the ramp by the boards
  • CanSkate (in the Snack Bar during the session)

Battle of the Blades night out! This promises to be an exciting night out for our Club. We have over 100 club participants taking part in this event. We need to arrive at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre for 7 pm and the show will start at 8 pm. Watch for us on CBC!

Rowan’s Law. Thank you for your cooperation in completing and returning your Acknowledgement Forms. We have received further clarification from the Government of Ontario which states that PreCanSkate and CanSkate level skaters are not required to submit a form. We will no longer be requiring forms for these skaters. For all other skaters under 18, forms must be signed by the skater as well as their parent. If you have already submitted your form but your skater has not signed, please see a Board member.  Skaters 18 and over can sign their own form.

Port Credit Skating Club – Logo Jackets and Pants are available for order on our website under the Port Credit Clubwear tab. Place your order before October 30th for a planned Christmas delivery.

StarSkaters: if you ordered chocolate at registration for Club fundraising you will receive an email when it has arrived. We appreciate prompt pick-up of all chocolate orders.

Welcome to Port Credit Skating Club’s 2019-2020 season!

We hope you’ve had a fantastic summer and are looking forward to a great year of skating.

Registration for all Programs is currently available on our website.

Please see the “Programs” tab for specific information on all program levels.

For pricing and program specific details, please see our “Registration” tab.

The Registrar will be available for registration help on most CanSkate sessions.

Important September dates:

Tuesday September 3rd, 2019: StarSkate Programs begin. See the Special September Schedule for scheduling changes for the month of September.

Sunday September 22nd: PreCanSkate, CanSkate, Older Teen/Adult CanSkate, and JumpStart Programs begin.

Program Assistants: Is your skater 11 years of age or older? Do they enjoy helping with children? If so, they may qualify to join our dynamic team of Program Assistants for our CanSkate Programs.  Program assistants can chose to earn volunteer hours or a credit towards skating fees. Please email: aimhighhealth@gmail.com if you are interested in applying. A mandatory training session will take place on Sunday September 15th, 2019 from 10:45 am to 12:10 pm.

Battle of the Blades!!! The Battle is back! Join your fellow Port Credit friends and family on Thursday October 10, 2019 at 7:15 pm as we cheer on your favourite hockey players and champion figure skaters as they pair up in a live, high-stakes figure skating competition. This will be a Club social event and tickets are free. Email events@portcreditfsc.ca to order your tickets today. Numbers are limited; don’t miss out on this great opportunity.

Happy Canada Day Weekend!  

Congratulations to everyone who tested on our June 25th Spring Test Day.  

Our Summer session will soon be under way at Iceland arena! You can register here.   Full Summer program details are located under the Spring and Summer 2019 tab.   Please ensure that you review the guest skating/extra session information for Summer as regular season guest skate tickets will not be accepted for this session. (This session is intended for Junior Development (with coach), Development, Pre-Competitive and Competitive level skaters only; there are no CanSkate sessions for Summer.)

The test day for Summer session is planned for Tuesday July 23rd.   The test day schedule will be emailed and posted on the website once finalized. For more information on the Spring/Summer test days please see the website under the testing tab.

Please remember that if you are registering for programs and cannot recall your log in information, DO NOT create a new account. Instead, please email admin@portcreditfsc.ca for assistance or to receive password reset instructions.

Your Port Credit SC Board of Directors is hard at work planning for the 2019-2020 skating year. We will send an email with details and registration information in early August.

Our Spring Session is well underway and we would like to welcome our guests from Silver Blades SC who have joined us for Spring skating.

The test day for our current Spring session is planned for Tuesday June 25th with a possible overflow day of Wednesday June 26th. Information will be emailed and posted as soon as details are confirmed. For more information on the Spring/Summer test days please see the website under the testing tab.

Please ensure that you review the guest skating/extra session information for Spring and Summer as regular season guest skate tickets will not be accepted for these sessions. Guest skate tickets can be purchased under the Spring and Summer 2019 tab.

The Summer Skating Session will run from July 2nd to July 25th and will be held at Iceland arena.   Registration is currently available on our website. See the Spring and Summer 2019 tab for details on Spring and Summer skating.

Thank you to everyone who came out for our AGM and awards night. It was great to see so many members fill the Credit Room as we recognized our children for their efforts throughout the year.

Congratulations to the members who joined the Board of Directors at the AGM. We appreciate your willingness to make a difference at the Club. The newly elected Board of Directors will be hard at work over the next few months to prepare for the 2019-2020 season. Program information and registration will be posted on our website in August and an email will be sent when registration is available.

The remaining regular 2018-2019 sessions for our Junior Development, PreCompetitive and Competitive skaters will be taking place at Tomken arena and Iceland arena . Please refer to the April to May Extended Schedule 2019 for specific session times and locations as these vary from day to day. A test day is scheduled for Thursday May 16th. Full test day information and schedule will be emailed and posted when finalized.

The Spring session, from May 21st to June 27th, and Summer session, from July 2nd to July 25th, will be taking place at Iceland arena.

Spring has sprung and so have our Spring and Summer 2019 programs.

New for Spring 2019! CanSkate and Adult CanSkate sessions will be offered* (no PreCanSkate) on Wednesdays from 6 pm to 6:50 pm and will take place at Iceland Arena. Register now! See our website for more information on these programs. *pending minimum number of registrations

Spring and Summer programs are offered for our Intro to Development, Junior Development, Development, Pre-Competitive and Competitive level skaters.

  • Information is available on our website and registration is now open.
  • Early bird discount for Summer programs is in effect until April 30th, 2019 – register early to take advantage of this offer.
  • Discuss with your coach which Spring session to register your skater for as they may have moved up a level.
  • Programs may fill up quickly, register soon.

There will be no skating sessions taking place on Friday April 19th - Good Friday. All sessions will proceed as scheduled on Sunday April 21st – Easter Sunday.

Friday April 26th will be the last day of our Winter PreCanSkate and CanSkate and Adult CanSkate programs. Progress reports will be issued on CanSkate sessions during the last week of skating. Thank you to everyone who participated and congratulations on your success! We wish you a wonderful summer and look forward to seeing you again in the Fall.

Intro to Development, Junior Development, Development, PreCompetitive and Competitive level skaters: Friday April 26th is the last day of Skating at Port Credit Arena. All sessions will be taking place at Iceland and Tomken Arena from Sunday April 28th to Thursday May 16th. See the Extended season schedule here. Please note that there are a number of session and arena changes on this schedule. We suggest that you print a copy for easy reference.

We wish to thank our new Club sponsor the Figure Skating Boutique !   We look forward to working with them to offer our members great services.

The Port Credit Skating Club’s AGM and Skater Awards presentation will be taking place on Thursday April 25th, 2019 at 7 pm at the Port Credit Memorial Arena. All PCFSC members are welcome to attend. See the attached AGM notice.

MARCH 2019 NEWSLETTER

It’s been a busy winter for our Club!

Our Competitive skaters and their coaches have travelled all over Ontario to compete and have done a fantastic job representing our Club. Congratulations! See our Facebook page for photos from the events. Results are posted on our website’s Competitions page.

Please make note of the following dates and information for the month of March:

  • March Break: there will be NO skating sessions from Monday March 11th to Sunday March 17th. Please note that regular sessions will be taking place on Sunday March 10th.
  • Daylight Savings Time: Remember to “Spring Forward” and turn your clocks ahead on Sunday March 10th.
  • Thursday March 28th -StarSkate Test Day:
    • There are NO Pre CanSkate or CanSkate sessions on this day (this is a scheduled “no skating” day).
    • There is NO Intro to Development/Development session on this day.
    • A test day schedule will be sent and will include information regarding the remaining scheduled PreCompetitive, Open and Competitive Sessions for this day.
    • For skaters who are testing, please see the PCSC website for test day information, schedule and to pay for your test day fees prior to test day.

Inclement weather: The decision to cancel classes is made jointly by the Board and the coaches responsible for the impacted programs. Every effort will be made to post the decision on our website’s homepage and our Facebook page by 2 pm. Classes cancelled due to inclement weather will not be rescheduled or refunded.

Spring 2019: the Board of Directors is currently working on finalizing the Spring schedule. Information will be sent out as soon as it is available.

Welcome to our new Winter CanSkate families! 

Please make note of the following dates and information:

  • Wednesday February 6th – Sessions moved to Clarkson Arena for this day only due to a hockey game taking place at Port Credit Arena. Skating sessions only will be offered.  There is no Off-Ice session on this day; this session was replaced in December.
  • CanSkate Parent Information Sessions: Tuesday Feb. 5th, Thursday Feb 7th, Friday Feb 8th and Sunday Feb 10th.  Information sessions presented by our CanSkate Representative Ivana Leksik.  All CanSkate parents are invited to learn more about our Pre CanSkate and CanSkate programs.  Further details to follow.
  • Monday February 18th – Family Day, there are no skating sessions taking place on this day.


On January 12th and 13th the Port Credit Skating Club hosted the Snowflake Skate Competition.  We would like to thank everyone who helped to make the event a huge success.  We had a large number of event volunteers as well as generous donors to our fundraising campaign.  The support of our members allowed us to offer an outstanding competition to over 300 skaters and their families who came from all over Ontario to compete at the Port Credit Arena.

Congratulations to all of our Port Credit skaters who are taking part in competitions throughout Ontario.  Competition results can be found under our Competitions page.  Good luck to all of you!

If you haven’t already seen it, take a moment to watch To The Worlds .  This CBC documentary about a group of inspiring women skaters from British Columbia aired in January.  Well worth watching!

Did you know that the Port Credit Skating Club is operated solely by parent volunteers?  We are seeking additional volunteers who are willing to help and will be reaching out to you in the next few weeks.
